DELIBERATE. STRATEGIC. DISCERNING.
Shine On, You Crazy Diamond.
I truly, madly, deeply love jewelry and so when I got on this Crazy Train, I wanted to create an agency that did more than just present jewelry to retailers and editors in a “throwing spaghetti at the wall” kind of manner. I wanted to be deliberate in the most organic way possible. I started my career in high-end, coveted and collectable, incredibly rare estate jewelry. My mission was to have contemporary jewelry designers understand their place in history, start taking curatorial responsibility for their work and begin to think of their clients as collectors.
Retailers spend years cultivating a clientele, introducing them, carefully, to new designers and product, and I felt that designers should be as strategic and mindful about their partnerships, not just accept the offer to bring them in into the store, even if it might be a big name brand. I like to work with the artist to create their ultimate vision and then work backwards to know exactly where to start. It’s about being discerning and creating your place in this world – not just hoping and wishing for things to happen and/or accepting what’s being handed to you. It may be better to only open three stores a year and really focus on sales and building your relationships with these teams rather than trying to get inside 20 different doors and saturating the marketplace with your jewelry.
It is not about working off of a call list, created on some excel sheet, of the stores you might think you want to be in because all of the cool kids are selling there. And the same goes with editorial and press. I wanted the editors, who so generously spend their time with us and the PR agency’s that our designers work with, to find the right story/piece and be genuinely moved to write about our artists or use their jewelry in editorial features. This creates authentic excitement about the designer which is ultimately conveyed to the public. Our artists are not trendy or flash-in-the-pan. They are committed and seriously dedicated to their craft – evidenced in their collections.
The EAB Project is a luxury brand development agency who is first and foremost dedicated to the artistic integrity of the designers on its roster. We map out the trajectory of the designer’s career and work tirelessly with our team to create a plan of action that is custom to the needs of each of its people.
